About Carey Leahey – Owner, Richmond Rightsizing

After more than 25 years in corporate process management, project and program leadership, training, facilitation, and coaching, Carey Leahey decided it was time for a new chapter. During her career transition, she discovered the move management industry and the National Association of Senior & Specialty Move Managers (NASMM). It was a perfect fit—blending her organizational expertise, strategic thinking, and deep empathy for people navigating change.

Today, as the owner of Richmond Rightsizing, Carey helps individuals and families of all ages organize, downsize, and relocate with clarity, compassion, and confidence. Her work is grounded in two things: a keen ability to listen and understand what truly matters to her clients, and the skills to create a customized, step-by-step plan that transforms overwhelming tasks into manageable milestones.

Carey knows that rightsizing is about far more than moving boxes. It’s about making thoughtful decisions, often while navigating strong emotions and treasured memories. She recognizes the toll of decision fatigue and offers objective guidance, creative problem-solving, and steady encouragement every step of the way.

Her clients describe her as approachable, resourceful, and unwaveringly honest. They appreciate her ability to blend humor with professionalism, creating a process that feels supported and even uplifting—no matter how big or small the move.

Whether you’re moving across town, transitioning to a new stage of life, or simply wanting to reclaim your space, Carey’s goal is to make the journey smoother, lighter, and tailored to your needs.
